I hate clutter but my partner collects everything. What shall I do?

Posted on June 28, 2016

This is a question that comes up all the time.

A simple answer? Do nothing. Well, not anything concerning your partner, that is.

The best thing to do? Look around your home and tend to your own belongings first. Try under the kitchen sink, your undergarment or sock drawer or a cabinet in the laundry or bathroom. The linen cupboard is another great area to downsize and reorganise neatly for an instant ‘Wow!’ when you open the door.

Sort through shared belongings first if you must, but it is almost guaranteed that you will find some clutter of your own to work with.

Why should you ignore your partner’s stuff?

When you energise your surroundings by ridding yourself of unwanted, unneeded and unloved items, your efforts will flow on to others around you. And who is first in your web of connection? Your partner of course!

So next time you are about to open your mouth and make a verbal judgement about the abundance of your partner’s belongings, cancel that thought immediately! Go directly to and sort through one of your drawers, a cupboard or your wardrobe.

Enjoy the certain uplift it brings and sooner or later, your partner will want to share in your happiness….

Well, eventually!

Although Emerald Space is no longer offering decluttering services to new clients, the topic of clutter will still be covered in future blogs and articles as it has such a huge impact on the feng shui of your home.

So, what are you waiting for? Send a loving thought to your partner and go and move some clutter!

Love and blessings,

Karen
