home smiling

Is your home smiling?

One of the aims in yoga is to attain a calm, relaxed, grounded frame of mind from which to operate and go about your daily business.

This peaceful state is exactly what we are aiming to achieve in our environments with Feng Shui. Energy flowing nicely complementing elemental balance, comfort, safety and beauty.

The yoga perspective can be used to gauge whether your home has the same relaxed outlook as it watches the world go by on your street, protecting your family within. Does your home have a ‘gentle smile?’

Consider the conversation you might have with your home. What would it say? For example:

Does your home feel appreciated, loved and looked after?
Are its appliances being useful and humming along nicely when in service?
Are you both comfortable with each other?
Does your home feel like it is the right size for you and if not, is there an adjustment you can make to ‘stretch it out’ or ‘cosy it in’ wherever appropriate?

Recently, there was an enlightening interview with Terah Kathryn Collins, the founder of the Western School of Feng Shui who has been in the industry for over 20 years and has written a number of books on the subject.

Her first foray into the world of Feng Shui was at a lecture by an acupuncturist who was also a Feng Shui practitioner.

He described the home as being an extension of your energetic body. If one of his acupuncture clients came with the same complaint 3 times in a row, he would say that he wanted to look at their home next!

Remember, everything is ‘alive’ in Feng Shui, and that includes your energetic body extending into your home and other places where you spend the most time.

I send my gentle smile to you and your homes this week,

Love and blessings,
